Happy Independence Nigerians! This is a golden jubilee  and must be taken very seriously beyond the celebration and glamour. The nation ‘Nigeria’ is growing older by the years, it is therefore very important for the leadership and the citizenry to grow in every aspect of their lives (Joshua Osagie).Nigerians (including the leaders) must accept responsibility for anything that is not going the right way presently and think of what to contribute to nation building. Ayn Rand

 will always say ‘wealth is the product of man’s capacity to think’. How true that is.

If  you don’t think, you will stink and sink in the deep abyss of ignorance (Joshua Osagie). From the Federal Government to the citizenry, we must begin to map out strategy for nation building. Government must be holistic in the approach to tackling the very many hullabaloo arising from different parts of the country as a result of crimes like kidnapping, armed robbery, corruption, etc. The world community is watching Nigeria with keen interest as the globe’s largest black nation blessed with minerals and other resources. A country with great talents and many unemployed youths – the world is aware of this. It is time for entrepreneurs to be encouraged in the country, as sincerely speaking, all youths cannot be employed by the Government. Entrepreneurship is going to be key to achieving the goal of a healthy economy.

I see a great Nigeria in 10-15 years, that the world would want to visit at all cost; this can be achieved by Nigerians  with insight into our problems (understanding the nature of our problems) and tackling them. Malcolm Forbes will say ‘the best vision is insight’. How true that is. It is time for the leaders to be talking less and acting more, my friend Aesop will say ‘after all is said and done, more is said than done’. Political campaigns of promises without actualization is great deceit (Joshua Osagie) . Let us take Nigeria to where it belongs in the world community. I am not only saying this to Nigerians alone as the world over must improve in this 21^st century.

Integrity is the essence of everything successful. Integrity is standing for the truth in the midst of negative outstanding opposition( Joshua Osagie & Richard Buckminster Fuller) - this is just the key to achieving the proposed VISION 20:20:20 for Nigeria. The political office holders must make integrity to be their watchword. Don’t get involved in corruption of any kind.

Corruption! Corruption! Oh! Corruption, this  must be dealt with at all cost. Money laundering by political office holders has always and will always draw the nation back. It is time for change. Lets do it right together and be holistic in the approach. So many cases have been swept under the carpet for no just cause. Stop the injustice, stop the corruption, stop the financial mismanagement for a better Nigeria. Stop oppressing only the weak, let us build an egalitarian society – equality before the law. Indict whoever is involved in corruption no matter how highly placed the person may be (from the presidency down), stop the sentiments.

On a concluding note friends worldwide, Nigerians in their fatherland and in diaspora, Diligence is the mother of luck, so says Benjamin Franklin. The leadership of any nation must be diligent in handling the affairs of the nation, be ready to be criticized both constructively and the reverse, but accept defeat in sincerity. My friend Napoleon Bonaparte will say  ‘a leader has the right to be beaten but never the right to be surprised’. The citizenry have a big role to play in the success of  a leader, taxation is just one of it. Let us do it right Nigerians, let us do it right worldwide, and make the world a better place. It begins with you by asking yourself  this question; What can I contribute to my nation? You can do something.

Happy birthday Nigera. Fifty (50) years of nationhood is not easy. Have a great golden jubilee celebration and  let us all(including me) meditate on these words on marble. Let us prove to the world that we are really a good people of a great nation. Thanks to the world community for obliging me to dedicate today’s words on marble to Nigeria @ 50.
