WRITES ON “AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK TO
MY GOALS 2013?”
Several
weeks ago we were all jubilating, celebrating ourselves and rejoicing as we
witnessed the start of the new year 2013. There is no doubt many of us set
goals for ourselves for the year 2013. Many of us vowed never to leave our old
life style that made us regret past failures and unattained heights. Many vowed
never to follow the same path that resulted in failure and also associate with
friends who were inhibitors to our success and goals. There were lots of decisions
at the beginning of the year and what is conventionally called NEW YEAR
RESOLUTION.
EMPHASIS
Well, if you are still in the valley of indecision, I would advise
you seek advice from successful people. Bertrand Russell once said, “nothing is
so exhausting as indecision and nothing is so futile.” Little wonder the great
Sir Isaac Newton once said, “if I have seen further it is by standing on the
shoulders of giants.” Go for that bold decision today by help of counsel from successful
people. As for me, I am still very much a learner and daily dedicate myself to
learning from others and acquiring the right information to attaining greater
heights and achieving my goals. I always want to be on track. God is my
strength and compass to meeting the right people.
In Physics work is defined mathematically as force multiplied by
distance, meaning for work to be done, a force must be applied to cover a
distance – that is success. Unfortunately, many people deviate from this
success pathway. Theirs is force applied, no distance covered, therefore no
work is done. Ask yourself again: Am I on the right track? People worl day in
day out and achieve little or nothing. Working like elephants and eating like
ants. Oh! What an aberration!
CRUX OF THE MATTER
Ladies and gentlemen, I want to unveil one secret to you in
getting yourself on the right track. That secret is in the word of God. Joshua
1:8 in the scriptures seals it all – This book of the law (God’s word) shall
not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shall meditate therein day and night,
that thou may observe to do all that is written therein: for then thou shall
make thy way prosperous and then thou shall have good success. This is it! Yes!
It sums it up. God’s word can lead you to places, to the right people and the
right decisions in your path to success and attainment of your goals 2013.
May God lead and direct you always in making the right decision
in your path to success. God bless you in Jesus name. Amen!

BERTRAND RUSSELL’S QUOTES
The people who are regarded as moral luminaries are those who
forego ordinary pleasures themselves and find compensation in interfering with
the pleasures of others.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
Sceptical Essays
The megalomaniac differs from the narcissist by the fact that he
wishes to be powerful rather than charming, and seeks to be feared rather than
loved. To this type belong many lunatics and most of the great men of history.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
The Conquest of Happiness
Since power over human beings is shown in making them do what
they would rather not do, the man who is activated by love of power is more apt
to inflict pain than to permit pleasure.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
Nobel Prize acceptance speech, "Human Society in Ethics and
Politics"
People don't seem to realize that it takes time and effort and
preparation to think. Statesmen are far too busy making speeches to think.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
Our great democracies still tend to think that a stupid man is
more likely to be honest than a clever man, and our politicians take advantage
of this prejudice by pretending to be even more stupid than nature has made
them.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
New Hopes for a Changing World
To teach how to live without certainty and yet without being
paralysed by hesitation is perhaps the chief thing that philosophy, in our age,
can do for those who study it.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
A History of Western Philosophy
The point of philosophy is to start with something so simple as
to seem not worth stating, and to end with something so paradoxical that no one
will believe it.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
Logic and Knowledge
One should as a rule respect public opinion insofar as is
necessary to avoid starvation and keep out of prison, but anything that goes
beyond this is voluntary submission to an unnecessary tyranny.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
The Conquest of Happiness
One of the symptoms of approaching nervous breakdown is the
belief that one's work is terribly important, and that to take a holiday would
bring all kinds of disaster.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
The Conquest of Happiness
I discovered to my amazement that average men and women were
delighted at the prospect of war. I had fondly imagined what most pacifists
contended, that wars were forced upon a reluctant population by despotic and
Machiavellian governments.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
The Autobiography of Bertrand Russell
Men who are unhappy, like men who sleep badly, are always proud
of the fact.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
Almost everything that distinguishes the modern world from
earlier centuries is attributable to science, which achieved its most
spectactular triumphs in the seventeenth century.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
A History of Western Philosophy
There are two motives for reading a book: one, that you enjoy
it, the other that you can boast about it.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
The Conquest of Happiness
The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and
the intelligent full of doubt.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
The Autobiography of Bertrand Russell
Happiness is not best achieved by those who seek it directly.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
Mysticism and Logic
The most widely accepted philosophy of life at present is that
what matters most to a man's happiness is his income. This philosophy, apart
from other demerits, is harmful because it leads men to aim at a result rather
than an activity.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
Principles of Social Reconstruction
To be without some of the things you want is an indispensable
part of happiness.
Attributed
to Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
Nothing is so exhausting as indecision, and nothing is so
futile.
Attributed
to Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.
The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence
whatever that it is not utterly absurd.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)
British philosopher and mathematician.

>>ORBIT FEATURE 4> LANDMARK DISCOVERIES: INVENTION OF CALCULUS BY SIR
ISAAC NEWTON.
The discovery of differential and integral calculus by Sir Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz ranks as the crowning achievement of 17th-century mathematics. Calculus allowed the solution of many problems that had been previously insoluble, including the determination of the laws of motion and the theory of electromagnetism.
Newton made his discoveries
on calculus from 1664 to 1666 but did not publish them until 1687. Leibniz
published his system of differential calculus in 1684 and of integral calculus
in 1686. Controversy soon erupted over who had invented calculus first, with
Newton accusing Leibniz of plagiarism. Later investigations show that Leibniz
invented his calculus independently. As a consequence of the dispute, English
mathematicians and continental European mathematicians stopped exchanging ideas
for many years. English mathematicians persisted in the geometric development
of calculus. Far greater advances resulted on the European continent from the
algebraic approach of mathematicians such as Johann Bernoulli and Leonhard Euler of
Switzerland and Lagrange of France.
